This has been a hot button issue with my family (both blood and inlaws) and I'm really curious how the other parents here feel on it.

Do you have any restrictions on what your children eat other than allergies? Do you think it is better to limit or omit certain foods or for your children to eat whatever they want?

I am not picky about what Melody eats. I do not want her living off of junk food, but for instance, right now it is christmas.
If I want to watch dora with her eating m&ms and miniature reeses, then I am going to share some with her and we can have fun eating chocolate together.
It would be a sad sad world without chocolate.

my issue is her drinking. I have given her nothing but water as soon as she could drink. she was perfectly fine with water. my husband would give her juicy juice and I didn't complain because it didn't hurt her, but I wanted her to be ok with drinking water.

well, my mother in law could not understand this concept and has gallons and gallons of hawaiian punch for her. it is pure sugar. I will send her with a cup full of water or a fruit juice, AND SHE WILL POUR IT OUT AND PUT PUNCH IN IT.

I have tried talking to her about this, but I do not know what else to do.

I'm afraid I'd let my M-I-L disrespected my wishes that much, I'd let her know that she wouldn't be getting visits without you until she straightened up.

I try not to be a nazi about Teb's eating, but if that's how you want her to be raised, then she should understand that she needs to follow your rules. I wouldn't let Teb have that, either.
